We are incredibly excited to deliver the Balya Productions Mentee Program across three Australian dates on the Laneway Festival National Tour 2026, providing a one-of-a-kind immersive work experience on shows in QLD, SA and WA.
A massive shout-out to our partners FEAT.Live and Laneway Festival for backing real change and meaningful impact within the festivals and events industry.
Through this program, six First Nations emerging event crew will be employed across shows held on Kombumerri Jagun (Gold Coast), Kaurna Country (Adelaide) and Whadjuk Boodjar (Perth) working alongside industry professionals and gaining hands-on experience on Australia’s most successful national touring festival.
The mob joining the Balya Movement proudly come from and are connected to the following language groups and Traditional Owner communities:
• Jirrbal, Umpila, Burri Gubba & Kuku Yalanji
• Samu Clan from Saibai Island
• Wiradjuri
• Eastern Central Arrernte
• Noongar, Yamatji
• Kokatha & Dieri
• Larrakia, Kokatha & Wirangu
The program is mentored by Letisha Ackland, Director of Balya Productions – A proud Kokatha, Wirangu and Mirning woman building upon Balya’s commitment to pathways, representation and culturally-led leadership across the live events industry.
This is about visibility, opportunity and nurturing sustainable futures on Country, in community, and on some of the biggest stages in the country.
